What are private proxies and how are they used in scraping?

by Bernardas Alisauskas Aug 03, 2023 1 min read

Web proxies come in varying quality and varying features. However, one of the most important features is proxy ownership.

Private proxies mean that there's only 1 owner for the proxy. This means that the proxy is not shared with other users which can diminish the quality of the proxy.

Private proxies are much better at bypassing anti-web scraping services such as Cloudflare or Datadome. This is because the proxy is not shared with other users which can diminish its trust score through repeated use.

However, shared proxies can perform similarly if they are managed smartly by carefully distributing access to all of the users. So, whether to use private or shared proxies depends on the quality of the proxy service.
